Most Grand Canyon visitors who fly into Arizona arrive at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, AZ. The most direct route driving from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon South Rim is an approximate 260-mile drive. Several Grand Canyon tour companies provide service directly from Phoenix or Scottsdale, or there is also a shuttle service (Groome Transportation) that offers transit to Sedona, Flagstaff, and Grand Canyon daily. While a day trip to the Grand Canyon is possible, it makes for a long day, with nearly four hours of driving each way. We recommend staying overnight in Sedona, Flagstaff, or Williams in order to see more sights and create a more leisurely experience. If you are pressed for time consider opting for an airplane or helicopter tour to maximize your adventure at this natural wonder!
